Video: The Fresh & Onlys // “Presence of Mind”.
San Francisco’s best, the Fresh & Onlys, just keep getting better. Last month, I had the opportunity to see them play a bunch of new material at Vacation for Lee Raymore’s Silent Music exhibit. I couldn’t deny thoughtfulness behind the new sounds. Here is their video for “Presence of Mind” from their upcoming LP, directed by Dawn Carol Garcia. The Onlys just announced a full North American tour in support of the album, Long Slow Dance, due Sept. 4th on Mexican Summer. Check out a sneak peek of a forthcoming documentary on the making of the album here. Also the whole album is streaming now via the Hype Machine.

“Hateful Pop” is how Cocktails describes their song, “Tear It To Pieces.” I can respect that. I mostly respect it because this band features one of my favorite SF “celebs.” Rion Rinker - I mean, I don’t know anyone else with a band named after them (who isn’t that band!). The boy knows how to brine a pickle, too. Actually, this band is dope, so check them out this Friday at the Make-Out Room as they open for Sauna.
