Song: Nathan Grice // “Hay Hay I’m out of my mind”.
Nathan Grice is the Mission’s best kept secret. You may recognize Grice as bassist of the Royal Baths, but he’s an amazing song writer all on his own. We lived together for a short bit at Kitsch Gallery. At Kitsch, Grice set up a small studio and recorded for hours on end. Lately, he’s been busy recording some more, and playing small gigs around town. Grice has a few shows coming up in December and January. Be sure to keep your ears open — he has a bounty of great material which I’m sure many of you will enjoy.
Get your fix of teen San Francisco garage. The She’sThen It Starts to Feel Like Summer, drops November 29. Not too long ago, these gals had the pleasure of opening for Girls at the Fillmore. The story behind that? The She’s contacted Girls via Myspace and expressed their love for Girls. Christopher Owens checked them out, dug them, and asked them to open for their show. Personally, I’m falling victim to their ooooohs and oh my babies. The She’s celebrate their record release on December 3rd at Bottom of the Hill with Melted Toys and Tijuana Tigers:
The Sandwitches // The Pearl. This track is the new single from the Bay Area’s the Sandwitches (via Hardly Art). The song was recorded by the Sic Alps’ Mike Donovan and it’s about love and treasure. I enjoy how the ladies’ singing of the word “whirl” has an onomatopeic sensation. All of the bands upcoming tour dates are in Europe. Which is great for the Sandwitches, but not so good for me and probably you too.
