(via The Bay Citizen) Oakland’s Mama Buzz is closing.
Sad news coming from Oakland. The DIY venue/restaurant Mama Buzz is closing it’s doors after being open since 2003. I’ve had my share of brunches and fun Oak-town style shows there. In fact, Mama Buzz was one of my first introductions into Oakland’s music scene. The Bay Citizen reports:
"A "final show" was announced on Facebook recently, stating that the cafe had been sold and would be holding its last show on December 17. The show is being referred to as a “funeral” with commenters calling for attendees to wear black and fans from as far away as Toronto lamenting the closure. The show features the Street Eaters, Know Your Saints, Great Apes, Company, and Heist."
In the mean time, 1-2-3-4 Records reports that Shannon Shaw of Shannon & The Clams will have some art up until the cafe’s closing day.
