Video: Dominant Legs // “Loving Now” (live acoustic).

This video comes via echolocale as part of their new series with the Noise Pop Podcast. Filmed upon a Grove Street rooftop, “Loving Now” (off the new LP Invitiation) brings you into San Francisco’s Indian summer with a tune about loving yourself and acting your age - perhaps for the sake of others. I’ve always been impressed by singer-guitarist Ryan Lynch’s romanticism and ability to turn out amazing pop songs. The now five-piece band is on their first national tour. If you’re not a native San Franciscan, be sure to get a taste of the California sunshine (tour dates below).

Blasted Canyons get loud at the Hemlock tonight (6/15) with Sacramento’s Fine Steps and Boom Bang, 9PM $6.
Blasted Canyons – the rhythm ridden trio will have their new LP for sale tonight! The much anticipated record is being put out by John Dwyer’s label Castle Face Records. Opening the show are the Fine Steps – a Sacramento super group consisting of former MAYYORS drummer Julian Elorduy, with two Ganglians: Kyle Hoover and Alex Sowles, plus a few young bucks. I got a chance to drop by the Fine Steps recording sessions at Tiny Telephone a few weeks ago, and the steps have some real magic. It sounds like a Ganglians and Mantles sweet baritone voiced love child – you’ll be excited, I promise. Oklahoma’s Boom Bang also play.

Video: Nick Waterhouse // “Say, I Wanna Know” (live). I first caught Nick Waterhouse in early January at a White Fence show with Ty Segall and Ryan Sambol (Strange Boys). I remember it was in a small, dark and smoky basement. The ceiling was damp, and the floor was slippery with booze. It was hazy, but I recall Waterhouse sounding great. These days, it’s sounding even better. Need proof? Above is footage of Waterhouse and The Tarots, ft. The Naturelles by Jenn Kubat during May 5th’s performance at Public Works.

Missed it or want more? Catch Waterhouse & The Tarots ft. The Naturelles live this Saturday the 14th. Opening is Tender Cinders, and DJs Jackie Sugarlumps & Matt B. will keep you shaking all night. The Crescent Hotel Ballroom, 9:30PM, FREE.

Video: Fresh & Onlys // Waterfall (live at SXSW). From SailorJerry

I once told Shayde Sartin, bassist of the Fresh & Onlys that my love for the Onlys not only stemmed from my appreciation for their song writing, but also their dedication. “Respect your elders,” I said. They’re the Godfathers of the current wave of San Francisco garage rock. There’s no doubt about that.

Nick Waterhouse & The Tarots // Some Place

The first thing I was asked when I played Nick Waterhouse & The Tarots to my friend was, “When was this put out?” Looks are deceiving, as I show my bud the 45 RPM 7 inch with no cover. Self described as a “midnight-hour R&B shake-fest,” it’s a sound that hooks, and this band is doing a very smart thing. The 7 inch released by PRES Records last fall has already sold out. A repress came out in February, and since then the R&B gang has been busy recording in LA. See the band live, and get the record this Friday, March 25th when NW & the Tarots open for The Strange Boys, Ty Segall, Cosmonauts, & Moonhearts at Club Verdi. Waterhouse & The Tarots are on at 9pm. $10, All ages.

SHOW // MARKLION (France) @ Kitsch Gallery

Tomorrow (3/24) will be the night to dance and sweat—the rain and yourself. It’s wetness all around. Kitsch Gallery hosts MARKLION, Kit Clayton (dj), Wav Dwgs (LIVE), and Dominique Leon  (dj). MARKLION is the beat ego for Vicent T—former member of Dat Politics. But he wont be packing sound toys, he’ll be bringing a full bodied visual and audio implosion. 9pm.
