Video: Magic Touch // “I Can Feel The Heat”.

This video comes via Altered Zones. Damon Palermo is the mind behind Magic Touch. His beats are infectious, and his reputation is rhythm. This video is a special one. Directed by Donuts’ Kat Matutina, it is visually addicting, and filmed entirely impromptu. The footage is from last month’s Beat Electric Dance Party, which was a super fun and sweaty night. Damon is a sweet friend who has even contributed to our little blog. Make sure to pick up the vinyl for this mega jammer at 100% Silk. Also, check out the mix Damon made for us back in April.

Be part of the Beat Electric Dance Show this Saturday (7/23) at the Mezzanine.

Almost three years ago I was putting together a playlist for a party my housemates were throwing. The feel was mainly italo, disco, and boogie. At some point I felt like I had hit a ceiling in the songs to choose from. I asked my friend Jonah Paul if he had any suggestions for music sources. He linked me to an amazing site that uploads high quality mp3 rips of rare and precious vinyl. That site was Beat Electric. It’s there where I found my treasure for the night: Prophet - “Right On Time” – a mid 80s boogie synth jam that hails from San Francisco. As time went on, I came to realize that Beat Electric is not only a blog, but also a party production mogul.

Beat Electric is throwing its second dance show, this time in conjunction with Donuts! They plan to pack the Mezzanine with the city’s best dancers and musical acts, and film it all. The acts they’re bringing are top notch: Corrine, Tres Lingerie, Hot Tub, & Magic Touch (added 7/18). DJs include BT Magnum, Pickpocket, Le Baron, & Black Shag. All hosted by SF’s Jiharri T. This Saturday (7/23) at the Mezzanine, 9PM with a $10 suggested donation. Facebook RSVP & Deets.

Video // Magic Touch “Clubhouse” ft Honey Owens of Miracles Club.

Here’s a video from San Francisco based Magic Touch, a.k.a. Damon Palermo (Mi Ami, Jonas Reinhardt). It’s high-energy dance music for all your freaky needs. A few weeks ago, I featured this track on a mix I did for The Bold Italic, and I’ve been digging on “Clubhouse” as a keeper for pre-party motivation and sweaty dance parties. Magic Touch’s three song 12 inch I Can Feel The Heat (100% Silk) wont be out until August, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get touched between now and the anticipated release. Magic Touch will be DJing High Fantasy on Tuesday (7/19)and Steve Summers is performing! Bring your jock-shorts, and get ready to boogie.

Brooklyn-based Innergaze (100% Silk, Cititrax), Steve Summers (Clone, LIES, Echovolt), and Rhythm Based Lovers (Future Times) are touring the California coast this week.

It all starts this Saturday (7/16) at Amnesia as OK Hole presents Innergaze with Bookworms (live), Robot Hustle and OK Hole DJs. If you’re not familiar, Innergaze is a BK based synth duo composed of Jason Letkiewicz & Aurora Halal. Back in September, Jason sent me a couple of tracks to play drums on. I recorded those at Phil Manley’s home studio. I’m stoked on their high heels on the wah wah pedal vibe – you don’t want to miss them live. One of those tracks, “Shadow Disco” premiered on Altered Zones in May, check out the video:

INNERGAZE – SHADOW DISCO from 100% Silk on Vimeo.

If you live for analog synth body music and just can’t get enough, then don’t miss Jason Letkiewicz’s alter-ego Steve Summers on Tuesday (7/19) at the High Fantasy party at Aunt Charlie’s. HF hosts Alexis Blair Penney, and Myles Cooper will DJ along with a set by Magic Touch (Damon Palermo – me).

Also, if you want to leave the city for some summer heat, you’re in luck: Steve Summers is playing in Belden on Friday (7/15) at the Sunset Campout 2011 with Miracles Club & more! After which Innergaze plans to debut in LA at Freak City on Sunday (7/17) — I’ll also be debuting my solo project, Magic Touch. Also playing is Pharoahs, plus DJ sets by LA Vampires, SFV Acid, and Let Him In.

To book end their S.Cal tour, Rhythm Based Lovers plays live on Monday (7/18) at Dam Funks’ legendary weekly Funkmosphere party with SFs own, Donuts DJs, Dam Funk, and Funkmosphere DJs!
