The third annual San Francisco Popfest kicked off yesterday (3/25) at Rickshaw Stop. There’s a great line-up all weekend long with local bands, as well as some solid bands from afar. Tonight (5/26) Dominant Legs play. I’m a big fan of the band’s pop sensibilities and vocal harmonies. I just wish they’d release a full-length already! I interviewed vocalist-guitarist Ryan Lynch for the Chronicle, and learned about his great love for the San Jose Sharks and for “Cheers.” Read the full article here.

My two other fave local bands playing this weekend: the Mantles at Rickshaw Stop Friday (5/26) and the Art Museums who are performing as part of the Slumberland Records showcase on Saturday (5/27) night. I wrote a lot more about the bands for my San Francisco Bay Guardian column Lights Out, which you can read here.

Ryan Lynch from Dominant Legs made us a mix.

Ryan Lynch is the songwriter behind the now four-piece pop act Dominant Legs. Last year’s Young At Love and Life EP (Lefse Records) channeled the afflictions of young love in a gentle sway of bright vocals and soft synths. This year, they’ve played a bunch of really great shows, and are coming up as one of our town’s finest.
