Video: Royal Baths // “Black Sheep”.

Directed by Fatos Marishta and edited by Royal Baths Jigmea Bear, the video for “Black Sheep” gives tribute to the band’s bad kid persona. I once told Bear that the Royal Baths’ music feels like a dance with something dark and dangerous. Jeremy Cox’s guitar work certain contribute to that nervous feeling. In case you were wondering, the video was filmed in New York’s Market Hotel. What should you expect from the Royal Baths? Tour dates, perhaps another video, and the much anticipated Better Luck Next Life out February 7th via Kanine Records.

Video: Dominant Legs // “Make Time For The Boy”.

(via Stereogum) Directed by Jonathan Hi with help from Hayden Shiebler, this feel good video for Dominant Legs’ “Make Time For The Boy” shows off the full band: Ryan Lynch (vox/guitar), Hannah Hunt (vox/keys), Rene Solomon (drums), Andrew Connors (bass), and Garett Goddard (guitar). Loving the coordinated dance moves.

Video: Boyz IV Men // “Rocky IV”.

In May, the SF based garage-key electro trio Boyz IV Men recorded a few new songs with with sound engineer Phil Manley (Life Coach/Trans AM/The Fucking Champs/Jonas Reinhardt).  “Rocky IV” is yet to be release properly, but director Forest Haiss filmed their first proper video. Shot on a local coastal ranch, the video takes the boyz through oodles of old fashion fun: motor bikes, horses, tractors, and guns. Enjoy!

Video: The Sandwitches // “In The Garden”.

“In The Garden” by The Sandwitches from the album Mrs. Jones’ Cookies on Empty Cellar Records. Directed by Ryan Browne (a Sunset in Sonny and The Sunsets/Tortured Genies), the video takes place in one of the Mission’s gems: Esta Noche. Yes, you’ve probably walked been and been confused by it. Say what you will, it is one of the ultimate drag spots in San Francisco. It’s nice to see a video pay homeage to it. The Sandwitches are currently on tour in Europe with Carletta Sue Kay.

Video: Real Estate // “It’s Real”.

Loving this feel good jam. “It’s Real” is off of Real Estate’s new album, Days (via Domino Records). Perfect for those foggy fall days when you just wanna listen to some records and vibe out with your lover-friend. I first saw Real Estate back in ‘09 when the kids in Young Prisms were trying to find them a spot to play and  raise money for John of Sudden Oak. It was decided that Adobe Books was too small of a joint, so it was moved to the Sunshine Castle - it was a super fun show with too many inside jokes. Real Estate play with Big Troubles next Friday (11/11) at Slims. $17, Doors at 8PM.

P.S. Rumor is Real Estate and Big Troubles are DJing somewhere in the Mission after their show. Follow for deets.

Video: Christopher Owens // “Mr Blue” (via True Panther + Opening Ceremony).

A little over a year ago, Ryan McGinley had his opening for Life Adjustment Center at Ratio 3 Gallery. It was pouring rain, and I was heading home from the mall after buying some deodorant. A good friend texted me, and said I should head over to Ratio 3 to catch the show, he mentioned that Christopher Owens was going to do an acoustic set. I was stoked. I had never seen Owens live, and I had missed my opportunity to catch Girls live at the Knockout on NYE the year before (I had a ticket, but was too much of a lush to walk five blocks). Ratio 3 was packed to the brim. Everyone soaked, yet cheerful. I was dripping wet, but was moved by Owens’ tender nature. I had always wondered what happened to the footage of that night’s performance. Lucky for us, all the footage was edited and release via Opening Ceremony. Make sure to check out their site for additional songs - many of which appear on Father, Son, Holy Ghost (True Panther Sounds).

Video: Nick Waterhouse // “I Can Only Give You Everything” (Dir. Dick Thompson).

I appreciate Nick Waterhouse’s blunt honesty, and this track lays that out clearly: “I can’t give you more than what I got.” A song about realistic expectations. People have said a lot of thing about Waterhouse’s music, but let’s boil it down: call it part of the R&B revival or “nu-soul,” the truth is that his jams are awesome. This track is off Waterhouse’s latest single for “Is That Clear” (via IL Records). You can check out Nick Waterhouse & The Tarots tomorrow (10/19) at Slims (SF) w/ The Allah-Las. 8:30PM, $10/$13. Also, check out the mix Waterhouse made us back in March.

Video: White Fence // “Get That Heart”.

(Video via Impose Magazine) It’s a crazy thing - the music of Tim Presley (White Fence) has been in my life for over 11 years. As my musical taste evolved, Presley’s music has fit all sorts of moods: angst, love, anger, and reflection. Now, his brainchild/bedroom project, White Fence, has reinforced my appreciation of the best song writers on the west coast. If you have not checked it out yet, please do. Also, back in January (pre-NFR), I filmed this little video of White Fence performing “The Love Between” - check it.
